Can traveling the world make us open ourselves not only to exoticism, but also to "Polishness"? This is the question the Emigration Museum in Gdynia would like to ask while announcing the first edition of a contest for travelers – the Paweł Edmund Strzelecki Award. The assessment will concern a film or photographic attempt at portraying a Polish emigrant. The material may focus on any Pole living abroad, whose story incites admiration, interest and deserves to be presented in front of a wider audience.
The Award's patron is personified by Paweł Edmund Strzelecki – a distinguished traveler, explorer, discoverer, and the first Pole to attempt an individual expedition around the world.
The laureates of the first edition will be selected next year, during the next National Meeting of Travelers, Sailors, and Mountaineers "KOLOSY" in Gdynia. We hope the Award will become a permanent feature of this important event.
